Bonnie J. Brooks, MD

Dr. Bonnie J. Brooks graduated Summa Cum Laude from Mercer University and completed medical school and residency training in ophthalmology at the Medical College of Georgia. She is a member of Alpha Phi Omega Honor Society and graduated with honors at the postgraduate level. Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, Dr. Brooks began her private practice of ophthalmology in Brunswick and St. Simons Island, Georgia, a community dear to her heart. Since opening the practice in 2005, Dr. Brooks provides exemplary and up to date surgical and diagnostic eye care for patients of all ages. She is the founder and director of Seaside Ophthalmology’s clinical facility and ambulatory surgery center and enjoys practicing comprehensive ophthalmology with a surgical focus on cataract and anterior segment surgery. Dr. Brooks is married to Dr. Kevin Brooks, an orthopedic surgeon, and she is a college athlete turned yogi. While away from the office, the Drs. Brooks are kept busy with their twin daughters, Kate and Lucy, and enjoy attending St. Simons Community Church.

Angela Scott, MD

Dr. Angela Scott is a board certified ophthalmologist who has been practicing with Seaside Ophthalmology since 2008. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she was a Morehead Scholar. She was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society and graduated with honors from the University of North Carolina School of Medicine. She then completed her ophthalmology residency at Duke University Eye Center. Dr. Scott has experience in both academic and private practice settings, having been on faculty at Duke, the University of Utah, and the University of Florida. She is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, and is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Her interests include cataract and anterior segment surgery and comprehensive ophthalmology.

Outside of work, Dr. Scott attends Christ Church Frederica and serves on the board of Girls on the Run of the Golden Isles. She enjoys running, biking, cooking, and spending time with her two children.

Angela Scott, MD

Sara Phelps, OD

A Brunswick native, Dr. Sara Phelps graduated with honors from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology. She obtained her Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where she was inducted into the Beta Sigma Kappa Honor Society. Dr. Phelps is a member of both the American Optometric Association and the Georgia Optometric Association. She is married to Douglas Phelps, a local State Farm Insurance agent, and they are the parents of two young sons. Dr. Phelps and her family live on St. Simons Island, are active members of Wesley United Methodist Church at Frederica, and enjoy attending UGA football games.

Brandi Lee, OD

Dr. Lee is a Folkston, Georgia native and graduated from Georgia Southern University and Nova Southern University College of Optometry.  For the last 10 years, she has been providing eye care for patients of all ages in Georgia’s southeast region.  Dr. Lee enjoys the challenges of pediatric eye exams, young adult refractive care, as well as disease management and post-surgical care of our Seaside patients.  Her outside interests include being outdoors, fishing, and painting.

Brandi Lee, OD

Robert King, MD

Dr. Robert King is the director of retinal services at The Georgia Eye Institute in Savannah, Georgia. He has been providing on-site clinical and surgical services for the patients of Seaside Ophthalmology and our community at large for the last several years. Dr. King completed his undergraduate and medical school training at Duke University. His ophthalmology residency was performed at George Washington University, and his medical and surgical retina fellowship training was completed at the University of Texas. He is an avid golfer and enjoys spending free time traveling with his wife and three daughters.

Robert King, MD

John S. Minkowski, MD

Dr. Minkowski is a native Marylander recently moved to Saint Simons Island. A graduate of Princeton followed by University of Maryland Medical School, he has further training in Ophthalmology at Johns Hopkins as well as Cornea and External Disease at the Mass Eye and Ear of Harvard in Boston. Dr. Minkowski has been involved with introducing new anterior segment surgeries at Hopkins, Harvard, and the Greater Baltimore Medical Center and is co-inventor of the Potential Acuity Meter, a now standard test. Although no longer in the operating room, he still enjoys consulting on complex cases as well as improving vision with simple office methods. After over 25 years teaching and in practice in Baltimore, he and wife Patty relocated to be closer to family.

A former caddie and state squash champion, Dr. Minkowski now looks forward to time at the beach, links, or on the bike with his nine grandchildren.

Tara Jordan, OD

Dr. Tara Jordan is originally from Western New York and graduated summa cum laude from the State University of New York at Fredonia with her Bachelor’s degree in Biology. She went on to receive her Doctorate of Optometry at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida where she was inducted into Beta Sigma Kappa academic honor society and graduated with high honors in 2011. Dr. Jordan then went on to complete a one-year residency at the VA hospital in Columbia, SC to further her knowledge and skills in ocular disease and gain training in specialty contact lenses and low vision. Dr. Jordan’s professional interests are ocular pathology, specialty contact lens fitting and anterior surface disorders. After practicing in the VA and then at Palmetto Health hospital in South Carolina, Dr. Jordan and her husband relocated to Saint Simons Island to be close to family. Her husband, Dr. Christian Jordan, is also an optometrist who continues his practice at the Brunswick VA. Outside of work Dr. Jordan enjoys spending time with her husband and yellow lab, CrossFit and an overall active and fun-loving lifestyle with friends and family.

Tara Jordan, OD

David Eghigian, OD

As a fully licensed, medically-oriented optometrist, Dr. Eghigian provides comprehensive examinations to aid in the diagnosis of disorders that may affect eye health and vision.  He is trained in ocular disease, anatomy, biochemistry and the physiology of the eye.  He also specializes in refractive and contact lens exams to ensure his patients enjoy the highest level of visual clarity possible.  Dr. Eghigian’s dedication to continued education, incorporative of the latest technology, provides patients with access to modern comprehensive eyecare.

Dr. Eghigian and his wife Jennifer, an accomplished cardiac nurse, are delighted to settle into their new coastal community.  His daughter Madison, an upcoming graduate of PA school, and his son Connor, a PGA professional who is moving to the Golden Isles this year, are expected to be frequent visitors!
